Aparna Srinivasan started learning Bharata Natyam at the age of five in the Tanjore tradition. 

Her gurus include the maestro,
Late 'Kalaimamani' Guru Sri Mahalingam Pillai and, the present directors of Sri Raja Rajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir (http://www.bharathanatyam.com), 'Kalaimamani' Guru Sri Kalyanasundaram Pillai, Guru Smt Karunambal, Guru Sri Vasant and Guru Sri Vishwanath.  

Aparna is trained in Carnatic (South-Indian classical) music, and is proficient in Sanskrit and Tamil.

Among other performances, Aparna danced at the "International Ramayana Conference" in 2001, the Federal Aviation Administration, for the Daily Herald at Arlington Heights, IL, the Red River Revel festival in Louisiana, General Motors show at Detroit, MI, Balaji Temple at Aurora, Il, Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago, Hanuman temple at Flint, MI, and several other shows in Chicago. Aparna has performed widely both as a part a troupe and as a solo artiste in the US and in India. 

 She has choreographed and has given lecture-demonstrations on Bharatanatyam for versatile audiences, some of which include Northern Illinois University and University of Kentucky.
